VYH receives $700k grant from the City of Philadelphia
Yesterday, the City of Philadelphia hosted a press conference to announce a $700,000 grant to the Coalition to End Youth Homelessness, which is headed by Valley Youth House. City Council members Helen Gym, Allan Domb, and Jannie Blackwell were in attendance and played a major role in securing the funding.
Helen Gym spearheaded a visit to our Philadelphia Youth Count in January for City Council members, which led to a hearing in April and ultimately the decision to secure funding to increase services. VYH is very grateful for the continued support and partnership from Philadelphia’s City Council, the Office of Homeless Services, and our partner agencies in the Coalition to End Youth Homelessness: The Attic Youth Center, Covenant House PA, Pathways PA and Youth Services, Inc.
Coverage of yesterday’s press conference can be found on Philly.com, Newsworks, The Daily Pennsylvanian, Metro Philly, The Philadelphia Tribune, and Fox29. You can hear WHYY’s radio coverage below.
