VYH Receives 10,000 Grant for Mental Health Therapist

A $10,000 grant from the 1675 Foundation will underwrite the costs of a contract Mental Health Therapist who will provide sessions to youth in the Chester County Independent Living Programs. Many youth come to Valley Youth House with histories of trauma and neglect that lead to poor mental health, but are unable to access necessary care at community providers because of gaps in insurance coverage, incompatible insurance, lack of transportation, and long waiting lists. By providing therapy at the homes of youth, services become significantly more accessible and youth in need are more likely to avail themselves of the services, which can be crucial in  their transition to self-sufficiency and adulthood.

Youth with access to the Therapist will be clients in Chester County residential programs, including the Supportive Housing Program and Supervised Independent Living, as well as the out-client Case Management Program.
