Valley Youth House MLK Observance 2021
On Monday, January 20, 2021 our nation will commemorate the 92nd Birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This holiday celebrates this civil rights leader’s life and legacy, as he worked tirelessly to create a more diverse, equitable and inclusive world. Many know that Mrs. Coretta Scott King envisioned this holiday to be designated as a day of service to inspire us all to build a more perfect union.
Our Valley Youth House MLK Observance Guide 2021 aims to support conversations and connections around the Martin Luther King Day of Service to implement with youth, families, and each other. You will find a sampling of virtual events, music, storytelling, videos and discussion topics, all geared to enlighten and empower us as we continue our work around diversity, equity and inclusion.
Valley Youth House honors the life and legacy of Dr. King. We all have the privilege and responsibility to educate and enlighten our youth, families, and each other on ways in which we can support the vision of not only Dr. King, but also countless other individuals who valiantly uphold the banner of freedom and justice for all. Let us use this day to humbly advocate for others, while encouraging us all to respect, celebrate and cultivate the unique qualities that we all bring to Valley Youth House and our communities.
