Usborne Books Donates over $1,500 worth of books to our Truancy Intervention Program

EDC Educational Services (Home of Usborne & Kane Miller Books) Educational Consultant Jennifer Zackey coordinated a community book drive this fall to benefit our Truancy Intervention Program.  Jennifer collected funds to purchase books as a third party fundraiser and then received a matching grant from Usborne Books to total more than $1,500 worth of books.  Program staff from our Truancy Intervention Program were able to select which specific books they wanted for the program.

The Truancy Intervention Program staff work with school-identified youth that have missed ten or more days of school. Services can be from one to two hours per week and may include tutoring, mentoring, and counseling for both the youth and their family. Concrete needs of the family are also addressed. The youth and his or her family may been seen in school, home, or other community sites.
