United Way Supports VYH in BIG Ways!
Did you know that Valley Youth House is a partner agency of United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley? United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley emphasizes education and emergency services, both of which Valley Youth House supports. Through both allocations and designated donations, Valley Youth House is able to provide services to youth and families at our Lehigh Valley Shelter, Student Assistance Program (SAP), and Truancy Intervention Program (TIP).
The Lehigh Valley Shelter utilizes an individualized, brief counseling and crisis intervention model within a Positive Youth Development (PYD) framework. Services are provided by a culturally competent and diverse group of counselors and therapists. Services include case management, individual, family and group counseling, life skills education, adventure-based experiential education and recreational activities, and therapeutic follow-up and aftercare services.
The Valley Youth House Student Assistance Program (SAP) provides short-term mental health counseling services to virtually every public school in Northampton County and selected elementary schools within the Allentown School District. Valley Youth House has been the Northampton County public school districts’ provider of school-based mental health services for nearly twenty years, and SAP Liaison services for over ten years.
The Truancy Intervention Program (TIP) is provided to identified schools and supported through the United Way and other donation dollars at no fee to the family. Staff works with the school-identified youth that missed ten or more days of school. Services can be from one to two hours per week and may include tutoring, mentoring, and counseling for both the youth and their family.
We could not do what we do to support and empower youth and families without funding from the United Way. It’s simple… support United Way GLV… support VYH!
