Sleeping Mats for the Homeless Fundraiser Supports The Synergy Project
Thank you to all that donated bags! We are no longer collecting bags, but are now in need of volunteers for the next step… crocheting! A group will be meeting at Camp Fowler on November 6th from 1:30-4:30 pm to work on the project. Bring Scissors and a size P or Q crochet hook if you have them.
“The Yarnies of Yarnia”, a crochet group of friends have decided on a group project to help out the homeless youth of The Synergy Project. They will be crocheting sleeping mats out of used plastic shopping bags. The mats would be approximately 3′ x 5′ and require 500-700 bags just to make one mat.
You can help by participating in any of the following areas:
-
Donate your stash of bags! If you have connections to any of the local stores that have a recycle bin of used bags please grab all you can.
-
Help in creating the yarn, which includes flattening, cutting, connecting, and rolling into balls of yarn.
-
Help crocheting the mats.
