VYH Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Observance 2022

On Monday, January 17, 2021 our nation will commemorate the 93rd Birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  This holiday celebrates this civil rights leader’s life and legacy, as he worked tirelessly to create a more diverse, equitable and inclusive world.

As our nation and local communities continue to struggle with a global pandemic, racial injustices, and economic disparities, this year’s theme — It Starts With Me: Shifting Priorities to Create the Beloved Community — is a call for us to stand up and join together in creating a world where injustice ends and love prevails.

Our Valley Youth House MLK Observance Guide 2022 aims to support conversation and connections around the Martin Luther King Day of Service to implement with youth, families, and each other. You will find a sampling of virtual events, music, storytelling, videos and discussion topics, all of which are geared to enlighten and empower us as we continue to work around diversity, equity and inclusion.

As we continue our work here at Valley Youth House, we are reminded of Dr. King’s vision of a world where people are valued, heard, respected and included. Let us all be mindful of our own vision in creating a world in which every young person belongs in a nurturing community.
