Leidy Torres named 2016 Young Achiever
Leidy Torres will be honored at the 6th Annual Always Bet on Youth Casino Night as our Young Achiever!
Leidy was nominated by staff at the Achieving Independence Center (AIC) in Philadelphia. According to her nomination, Leidy took full advantage of the many opportunities at the AIC and now utilizes the skills she learned there to live independently at Temple University.
Staff praised Leidy for her networking skills, openness to learning, and understanding that a successful community is a result of giving back. In June 2015, she was a peer chaperone at Temple University’s week long college exposure program, where she helped 14 and 15 year old youth in foster care gain knowledge of the college experience. In addition to her studies at Temple, Leidy works as a tutor at the AIC to assist members with homework and academics.
Now in her sophomore year, Leidy is studying psychology and ultimately aspires to obtain a Ph.D. and be a psychologist. We couldn’t be more excited to honor her at the event on Friday, March 11, 2016. If you plan to join us for the event, you can hear more about Leidy’s story firsthand!
