A unique art auction never before seen in the Lehigh Valley will raise funds to benefit the programs and services of Valley Youth House. The “Chair-ity” Art Auction, sponsored by Corporate Environments of Bethlehem, will feature an iconic office chair transformed into stunning works of art.
The “Chair-ity” Art Auction is scheduled for Wednesday, April 26, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Corporate Environments showroom, located at 605 East Broad St. In addition to the 21 chairs that will be auctioned, several other event/experiences will be auctioned, including two tickets to the Pitt vs. Penn State football game at Beaver Stadium on Sept. 9.
The event is open to the public, but seating is limited to the first 200 attendees. A donation of $20 per person is requested with advanced reservations. Tickets will not be sold at the door. Reservations and payment can be via the form below.
“This type of auction has become very popular in the office furniture industry throughout the country. Interior designers and architects are extremely creative people, designing true pieces of art out of a chair. We wanted to organize a similar event in the Lehigh Valley with the proceeds going to a charity. We selected Valley Youth House as the beneficiary of this event because of the extraordinary work they do to help children and young adults in need,” explains Patricia O’Brien, vice president of marketing.
Tom Harrington, President & CEO of Valley Youth House stated, “Valley Youth House has become the largest provider of help and services to homeless youth and families in the region. We are grateful for the support of companies, like Corporate Environments, that help us to achieve our mission.”
Corporate Environments, A One Point Company, is the Lehigh Valley’s Certified Herman Miller Dealer. One of the Herman Miller brand’s most iconic chairs, the Eames molded plastic chair, has been a fixture in offices and schools for decades. More than a dozen architectural and design firms from the area are participating in the event, transforming the classic Herman Miller Eames chair into a museum-quality work of art.
Participating architectural and design firms include: Alliance, Alloy5, Bonsall Shafferman Architects, Breslin Architects, Burkavage Design Associates, Design Point, Hemmler Camayd, Joe Rominski Architecture, KCBA, MKSD, North Star Construction Management, Spillman Farmer, Studio M Architecture & Design, W2A, and Wolstenholme Associates.
