2017 Backpack Challenge Results are In!

On August 22nd, VYH and the Department of Human Services closed the most successful Backpack Challenge yet. The agency raised over $30,000 to help secure educational necessities and cover expenses for youth in foster care. In addition, the greater Philadelphia community donated over 6,500 backpacks for our city’s youth, and nearly $20,000 worth of school supplies through 60 local collection sites!

Through the VYH partnership with Five Below, 15 cities across the United States were able to join the challenge, resulting in donations of nearly $200,000 worth of backpacks!

Proceeds from the Backpack Challenge will be used to ensure that youth in foster care have everything they need to start this school year poised for success. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this challenge such a success!
