
Four teams work with a small case load of families that have a child who is emotionally troubled. The program is home based and provides a wide variety of counseling, educational, and concrete services. The program offices are located at 531 Main Street, Bethlehem, PA 18018. Services are designed to assist children with behavioral and emotional concerns, and are provided in the home, schools, and community. Children from birth to age 21 can receive any combination of Therapeutic Staff Support, Behavioral Specialist and Mobile Therapist services. The professionals work together as an ad hoc team to assist the child and family in attaining identified goals. The program office is located at 1615 Northampton St. in Easton. Opened in 1978, Adolescents and Families Together is an outclient community counseling program for at-risk children and youth and their families. It is an aftercare service for youth staying at the Shelter, a truancy prevention program for selected school districts in the Lehigh Valley, and a family treatment program for Northampton County Juvenile Probation. Case management and therapeutic intervention services are provided to victims of child sexual abuse and sexually reactive youth through the Victim Intervention Program. AFT provides services on a sliding fee scale that is lower than that of private practitioners and other United Way counseling services.

In partnership with Lehigh and Northampton County child welfare and mental health agencies, staff provide up to 10 hours a week of service to families who have a child at imminent risk of foster placement due to the presence of physical abuse, drug and alcohol abuse, neglect, serious emotional illness, and parent/child conflict. Counseling, case management, and concrete services are provided to families in their homes for a period of three to twelve months. Staff is available to families 24 hours a day, seven days a week through an emergency paging system.
