Employment Opportunities

Valley Youth House recognizes the value of dedicated employees, and we are known throughout the Lehigh Valley for our exceptional professional staff. Six employees have been with the agency for over 20 years, while another 17 staff members have invested from 10 to 19 years with the agency. A generous benefit package is provided.

DESCRIPTION

Medical

 

Employees have a choice of two Highmark Blue Shield insurance plans. Employees contribute approximately 25% of the plan cost on a pretax basis for the base plan.  Employee contribution is higher for more expensive plan choices. Our lower cost plan includes a Health Reimbursement Account funded by Valley Youth House.

Dental

 

Covers employees and dependents at no employee cost (Guardian)

Life Insurance

 

Equal to one year of the employee’s salary.  Program Directors, Vice Presidents, the President and employees with 15 years of service receive the benefit equal to two times their annual salary not to exceed $200,000.

Long Term Disability

 

Pays 60% of employee’s salary till age 65 after 90 day waiting period.

Short Term Disability

 

Employee may self-purchase variety of AFLAC plans on a pretax basis.

Malpractice/Liability Insurance

 

Policy covers all staff, interns, and volunteers at no cost to employees.

Vacation

 

Accrual begins with one day for every month worked in an employee’s first calendar year, 15 days in an employee’s 2nd year, 17 days 3rd year, 19 days 4th year, 21 days 5th year, and 23 days every year thereafter

Holiday

 

6 paid holidays including Christmas, New Years, Memorial day, Independence Day, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving

Sick Days

 

0.84 days for every month worked first calendar year, 10 days 2nd year, and 15 days 3rd year and every year thereafter which may be accumulated to 60 days.  Sick leave may be used for both the illness of the employee and/or the care of their immediate family or domestic partner.

Personal Days

 

With approval by his/her supervisor, an eligible employee may be allowed to covert up to six sick leave days per year to personal leave days.

Bereavement Leave

 

Up to 3 paid days per death in the event of the death of a spouse, a qualifying domestic partner, child, grandchild, parent, grandparent, or sibling of the employee, or a parent child or grandchild of the employee’s spouse or qualifying domestic partner.

Out of Agency Training

 

Flexible benefit of $900 and 4 paid training days on a recurring 2-year cycle according to employee’s anniversary date.

Internal Training Program

 

Monthly trainings with CEU’s offered for licensed social workers and counselors.

Professional Conference Training and Presentation

 

VYH pays maximum of $250 travel, $200 lodging/expenses and provides 2 compensatory days for presentation of educational or research papers at professional conferences.  Approval by President.

Flexible Spending Account

 

Eligible employees have the option to participate in two flexible spending accounts. One may be used to cover certain medical related expenses and while the other may be used to cover dependent care expenses on a pretax basis.

401(k)

 

Upon completing 3 months of service, employees are eligible to make pre-tax contributions to a personal 401(k) account.  Those 401(k) contributions will be matched dollar for dollar up to the first 6% of the employee’s compensation.

Mileage

 

$0.45 per mile

Incidental Expenses

 

VYH pays incidental expenses incurred by employees when they attend meetings/conferences in connection with job assignments for the agency.

Annual Increases

 

Performance based.  Occurs annually on or about January 1st based on salary increase pool by the Board of Directors.

Offered through Allentown Municipal Employees Federal Credit Union.

Management Development

 

Any interested employee may participate in developing an individualized plan toward his or her own future goals.  Opportunities are provided to employees as a means of learning and practicing skills.

Staff Recognition Day

 

Non workday celebrating staff contribution to serving mission of helping troubled youth/families.  Includes recognition lunch and training throughout the day.

Staff Retreat

 

Non workday planned by staff to energize, network, and have fun.

Employee Assistance Program

 

VYH recognizes that a wide range of personal events, situations or problems not directly associated with one’s job function can have an adverse effect on an employee’s wellbeing and job performance.  Therefore, VYH provides confidential Employee Assistance Program services through Preferred EAP to assist employees in a confidential, constructive and effective manner consistent with good therapeutic and business practices.
