CONDITIONS OF PLACEMENT
PLACEMENT AS AN INTERN IN ANY VALLEY YOUTH HOUSE PROGRAM IS CONTINGENT UPON THE FOLLOWING:
CURRENT CHILD ABUSE and CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECKS indicating the applicant has not been a perpetrator of a founded report of child abuse.
PROFESSIONAL MALPRACTICE INSURANCE:
The agency maintains a group insurance policy to protect employees, interns, and volunteers in the cases where claims involving professional malpractice are made against them. This protection is revoked in claims which involve situations where the employee, intern, and volunteer has failed to act in accordance with agency directives, practices, policies, and procedures.
VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE (WHERE APPLICABLE):
Criteria for driving approval includes no serious violations or accidents (for which the applicant was at fault) within the last three years. Serious violations would be considered driving under the influence, a suspended license, etc. Additional criteria includes two or more (non parking) violations or two or more minor accidents which the applicant was identified as being at fault.
MEDICAL BENEFITS:
Interns are not covered under the agencies medical insurance.
RESEARCH:
Graduate students completing internships at the agency are often interested in undertaking research projects in fulfillment of their degree requirements that involve using case records, interviewing agency clients, or obtaining information from agency employees. Research projects involving Valley Youth House must be pre-approved by the student internship director. TIME REQUIREMENT:
A commitment to a minimum of twelve hours per week for the entire semester (ten-week summer, fifteen-week spring or fall) is required.
