Three years ago, when Univest Executive Vice President Dave Kepler and Valley Youth House’s Development Officer Mac McCausland told the VYH Board that they wanted to add another fundraising event for the Children, Youth and Families served by the agency, there was a little skepticism that it would get off the ground. Back then, we were smack in the middle of a down economy, sponsorships were very hard to come by and Sporting Clays seemed to be a surprising venue to suggest.
Three year’s later, the “Aiming for a better tomorrow” Sporting Clays Invitational to benefit Valley Youth House is a very viable part of the agency’s fundraising matrix. The latest event was held on Friday, March 25, 2011at Lehigh Valley Sporting Clays in Coplay. Although it was pretty nippy, almost 120 shooters participated.
"With the help of generous sponsors, a great shoot committee and a great cross section of our business community as participants; our event has gone from a concept to a roaring success in a very short time” says Chairman Dave Kepler “Counting the very generous Courtney Diacont scholarship, this event has raised over $60,000 for this agency. The true winners of the shoot were the kids of Valley Youth House who will continue to enjoy the benefits of attending Camp Fowler.”
