Founded in 1973, Valley Youth House provides a first line of defense for troubled young people and their families. Protection from abuse, neglect and family disintegration is achieved through a strategy involving prevention, crisis intervention, and long term help. Our dedicated professionals seek to preserve family life and develop troubled young people into successful adults.
The organization is led by a twenty-nine member Board of Directors. Services are provided by a professional staff, community volunteers, and student interns at schools, family homes, offices and more than 100 residential facilities throughout Lehigh, Northampton, Bucks, Philadelphia, Montgomery, and Carbon County. More than ninety percent of the youth and families come from Lehigh and Northampton Counties.
The work of Valley Youth House is supported financially by private gifts, fees, federal, state, and local government grants, and the United Ways of the Greater Lehigh Valley and of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
The mission of Valley Youth House is to provide prevention and intervention services, counseling, life skills and behavioral health services to abused, neglected, and homeless youth and their families. Our programs foster positive growth enabling at risk youth and their families to become healthy, productive, responsible members of the community.
The vision of Valley Youth House is to achieve a community of nurturing families which is free of abuse and neglect, and which prepares today’s young people to build tomorrow’s families and communities.
